 Drug use is not a recent problem. It has a long history. Jataka story books testify to the use of drugs even in Buddhist times. This is a brief overview of the drug menace that has begun and has recently become a major menace.   First of all, it is important to mention the drug menace in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka has a long history of drug abuse. It dates back to 1505 when the Portuguese invaded Sri Lanka. After the Portuguese introduced opium to Ceylon, opium and cannabis gradually spread.            Madol Doova is my favourite novel..I read it in year 4..if it's about that book , Madol Doova is a children's novel very popular not only in Sri Lanka but all over the world. It was written by Martin Wickramasinghe and it was published for the first time in 1947. The book was translated to different foreign languages and a film made in 1976 was based on it. The book was translated to English soon after initial publication and then, later on, to Russian, Chinese, Dutch, Romanian, Bulgarian and Japanese.  Prof. Sangeeth Nipun Herath Mudiyanselage Sanath Nandasiri born on 15 February 1942.He is a Sri Lankan singer, musician, music director, composer and playback singer. He is the current Chancellor of the University of the Visual and Performing Arts in Sri Lanka. One of the iconic singers in Sri Lankan music, Nandasiri has received several awards for his compositions in a career spanning more than six decades.
